Jayne is passionate about working with charities, having worked for 4 years on Race for Life and Shine raising over £3m for Cancer Research UK.

Meet the Cast! Vanessa Augustus

VANESSA AUGUSTUS is a Social Entreprenuer and founder of a Manchester based learning and development organisation.

For nearly twenty years she has helped a range of women to build their confidence and learn new skills. She is presently supporting female social entrepreneurs to reach their true potential.

WHAT I'VE LEARNT Some women need extra love, support and friendship. It's been fantastic to be involved in a project where women are happy to go an extra mile. Becoming part of a community of 'big sisters' is very rewarding.

Meet the Cast! Ann Bach

Hi, I’m Ann Bach and I run a company called Edge.

I got involved in Vday for two main reasons. Firstly, I’m trying to change people’s view of turning 40, so have set up ‘Fabulous at 40’ (www.fabulousat40.co.uk) which is 40 Challenges to Create 40 Memories. VDay seemed like a perfect challenge, a chance to work with some amazing women and create some fabulous memories.

I also totally believe in empowering women and wanted to support the Birdhouse Fund in their mission to help women in Manchester.

Meet the Cast! Danielle Gibson

I’m Danielle Gibson, I work in communications in Manchester.

I moved to Manchester from my hometown, Newcastle, last May and have been very happy to find it a wonderful place to live. When I’m not practicing for the V******* Monologues I do roller derby (albeit, not that well!) and write.

During my involvement with the Birdhouse Fund and the V******** Monologues, I’ve been overwhelmed by the bravery and honesty of some very special women and seeing their courage as they tackle some very hard topics is both heartwarming and empowering, and something I feel we could all learn from.”

Meet the Cast! Helen Freeborough

Name:

Helen Freeborough

Occupation:

Partner Strategic Marketing Agency, Manchester

Interesting fact:

Lifelong Radio 4 “Archers” fan – this would be my Mastermind specialist subject! Share my life with a classical musician and once made a TV programme with the late Tony Wilson.

What have I learned during this process?

That I’m nervous, slightly out of my comfort zone but that it feels good in a scary kind of way. I also feel privileged to be involved in something which will help improve the lives of women.
